“Never Again”
This image is one of the most powerful pro-choice images I’ve ever seen. When I saw it in the newspaper I immediately cut it out and hung it on my wall.

I love love love social media

But can we please meet maximum social network sauration already? Because even if you are one of the people whose online presence I find endlessly fascinating (and there are many!) I will probably add you on Facebook, flick over your Instagram and I might follow you on Tumblr. Perhaps I will even look at your ancient Wordpress/Blogger.

But if you think I have the patience to take any more than a cursory glance at your Twitter you are sorely mistaken.

It feels is creepy to follow even good friends on more than three online mediums. Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, everything else should be outed as the underachiever/hasbeen networks that they are and abandoned.

I am a dedicated internet stalker but even I have a line.

“You’re going to discover that conversations are best at 4am. The heavier the eyelids, the sincerer the words. Those are the talks you’ll remember. It’s ok not to know the answer and silence is not awkward. It’s shared, so share it more often than not.” —

Politics won't put you to sleep -

If you understand it.

Therein lies the problem. However, people complicate politics - at its core, it’s simply working out how the world should work. Each party believes the world works best in a certain way, and is there to defend that way. But…

You’ll never learn politics by watching TV. At best, you’re exposed to politics on TV when you’re hearing about a specific event and each party’s specific stance. Good luck working that out.

At worst, you’ve stumbled onto some politician in trouble who is acting purposely misleading so you don’t realise they’ve done something wrong. That will probably give you a migraine. Why bother then?

You’ll never be an adult if you don’t care about politics - at least in Australia. Because voting is compulsory, you have a responsibility to know what the hell you’re voting for. It’s just growing up. It doesn’t require fanaticism, but you have no right to ever complain about any social or financial situation in Australia or the world if you’re too apathetic to even bother to work out which party wants to fix it. Maybe you just aren’t interested…

You have an opinion. Tell me you have no stance on abortion, or the environment; on marriage equality or on war. And if you really have no opinion on any of this, if you have no opinion on anything in the world, then what the hell are you doing in it?

How do you care about politics, then? Well, ignore that Craig Thomson crap. Ignore the ‘will Rudd get revenge?’ time-wasting. Instead, look at what each party’s policies are. What are they doing about the things you care about? That information isn’t hard to find - politicians love talking about themselves.

You have a say in how everything in this country runs, but only if you know what’s being said.

It’s so refreshing to see the police really going above and beyond.

But what else? That’s not eight hours worth!

I also made porridge and ordered a new health care card? You underestimate my powers of procrastination.
