I knew the Red Cross weren't that stupid.

I was pretty confused by those articles going around. This makes much more sense. Still my favourite NGO.

You should call and ask them what their administration fees regarding disaster funds are like.

I’ve worked for their national office. Yes, they have administration expenses. They’re run by highly educated, dedicated employees, and yes, my understanding is that the pay is quite good (though I was a volunteer helping with a short term admin project). It’s how they attract the best people so that they can do what they do. It just wouldn’t be possible with only volunteers.

I read an article a while ago about $52.something million donated for tsunami relief fund and the people only received 2 million of aid. No link though, and I didn’t check the source and such, so there is a chance it was slander. Idk.

It could be true in a sense. The 2 million could be money given directly to victims, whereas the 50 could be infrastructure, services, etc, plus the effort that goes into coordinating it all so that the money can be spent most effectively. I doubt they just pocketed 50 million. It’s not like disaster relief money can literally go straight to victims - you’d just hear stories about the wrong people getting it, or everyone being up a few thousand dollars but down schools, or even problems with inflation. I’m just guessing though.
